NEMA announced two industry-leading product specifications developed under its “Make it American” Program to help electrical manufacturers confidently offer Build America, Buy America (BABA)-compliant products to market. The first-of-their-kind product specifications—for wire and cable and low-voltage power distribution equipment—establish product category-level specificity and provide the electroindustry with the evaluation criteria it needs to make informed decisions that strengthen product supply chains in alignment with BABA requirements.

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, have announced the recipients of the 35th ARTS Awards. Following a judging process guided by a panel of industry experts, category winners were announced at a gala event on Friday, January 10 at the Hilton Anatole hotel co-hosted by Thom Filicia and Carson Kressley. In addition to category winners, the Academy of Achievement honor was awarded to Andy Singer, the HEARTS Award was presented to The H Foundation, and the Trailblazer Award was given to Lois Del Negro.

Linear fluorescent lamps became a common lighting solution beginning in the 1950s due to the energy efficiency gains and increased lifetime compared to incandescent lamps. In response to the increasing popularity of fluorescent technology, manufacturers began designing fixtures to accommodate standard four-foot linear fluorescent lamps in the form of troffers, pendants, strip lights, and wrap around fixtures.

The AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index (ABI) dipped slightly below 50 for November. The November AIA/Deltek ABI score of 49.6 changed little from October’s score of 50.3, indicating that the share of architecture firms that reported declining billings was essentially the same as the share that reported increasing billings. Any score below 50.0 indicates decreasing business conditions, but there are encouraging signs of the pipeline.
