Casey Architectural Lighting, a rapidly growing custom architectural lighting manufacturer, is seeking an experienced product design engineer/draftsman to join their team.

Job Summary:

Responsible for designing custom lighting products using computer-aided design software applications such as Solidworks. Designs products from customer concepts, working as a team with sales, manufacturing and the client. Work from remote home office will be considered.

Primary responsibilities:

Create designs for custom lighting fixtures to meet customer’s design vision, meeting cost goals and company’s profit goals

Produce preliminary design models as necessary for customer approval

Produce final design specifications and working drawings for manufacturing

Aid in the selection of materials for the products

Create drawings in both 2 and 3-dimensional form as needed

Create detailed design drawings and documentation as needed

Create renderings, spec sheets and submittal drawings as needed

Assist in the estimation of time and costs required to complete project

Coordinate with ETL/UL as needed for product certification

Complete job packets for each order

Lead design reviews with sales and manufacturing

Coordinate with production manager and vendors for quoting and order placement

Coordinate with office administrator to place material orders with vendors

Define, create and maintain development of design methodologies, procedures and standards.

Liaison with vendors to stay current on lighting technologies

Skills requirements:

Ability to work as a TEAM with sales, manufacturing and the client is essential

Design experience in the lighting industry or other electro-mechanical manufacturing

Leadership or management experience is a plus

Experience with ETL/UL standards

Proficiency in the use of computer-aided design software applications such as Solidworks

Planning and organizational skills to be to able run and monitor the design process

Ability to act decisively and solve design, staff or equipment-related problems

Capacity to grasp concepts easily

Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality

Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers and clients

Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines when necessary

Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner
