ALA Women In Lighting Announce Conference Keynote

September 01, 2022

The American Lighting Association’s Women in Lighting Committee has announced a dynamic speaker for its popular reception during the first in-person ALA Conference in three years. Featured on FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC and TEDx, Betsy Allen-Manning is a best-selling author and founder of Motiv8U Enterprises and has trained more than 7,500 leaders and teams from small businesses to multi-billion-dollar corporations.

The Conference will take place September 11-13 at the Austin Marriott Downtown in Austin, Texas and include both a breakout session with Allen-Manning during the day on September 12 and a presentation that evening during the Women in Lighting Event, 4:30pm-6:30pm, sponsored by Dallas Market Center and Hubbardton Forge.

“We are thrilled to have Betsy Allen-Manning as our Conference speaker for the 2022 ALA Women in Lighting signature event,” said Bulbrite President Cathy Choi, who co-chairs ALA’s Women in Lighting Committee. “She is an award-winning TEDx speaker who is passionate about developing impact leaders and has been extremely engaged in supporting the incredible women in the lighting industry. We are looking forward to learning from her and from our colleagues during this exciting event.”

Allen-Manning’s afternoon breakout will cover “Intentional Success – Develop the Mindset, Habits & Game Plan to Reach Your Next Level.” Her Women in Lighting presentation is on “Impact Leadership – Develop Talent, Create a Sense of Purpose, and Build a Culture People Love.” Based on Allen-Manning’s TEDx talk, this presentation will provide a blueprint for becoming a more effective communicator and creating a sense of purpose beyond the paycheck. She will share insights into how forward-thinking companies build an attractive culture with strong values, create a leadership mindset within their team members, and sustain growth by preparing staff for future leadership roles.

All Conference attendees are welcome to attend this event, which will include a 50-minute presentation, followed by a book signing event with copies of “Win With People” available for purchase. Then, enjoy a cocktail reception and networking with peers.

While supplies last, attendees of the Women in Lighting event will receive a complimentary Women in Lighting T-shirt themed around Allen-Manning’s presentation, sponsored by Bulbrite and Kalco. Participants can also enter to win copies of Allen-Manning’s book.

Continuing a tradition established last year around ALA’s Virtual Symposium, Women in Lighting will also be offering a charity pin that will once again benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance in honor of beloved rep Karen Krieger, who passed away in 2021.

Sponsored by Varaluz, the collectible pin’s design commemorates the 2022 ALA Conference in Austin and will be sold for $20, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting OCRA.
