B-K Lighting Leads Industry In Solid State Lighting Documentation

November 15, 2010

With more than 125 registered products to date, B-K Lighting is the leading manufacturer taking part in the U.S. Department of Energy – SSL Quality Advocates Program. B-K Lighting’s volume of registered products surpasses that of any other lighting manufacturer participating in the program in the world.

Jointly developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (D.O.E.) and the Next Generation Lighting Industry Alliance (NGLIA), the SSL Quality Advocates Program showcases LED luminaire manufacturers who commit to testing products and reporting performance results according to industry standards.

Products meeting the DOE criteria are awarded a Lighting Facts label. Similar to a nutritional food label, the Lighting Facts label summarizes a fixture’s solid-state performance data in five areas—lumens, efficacy, watts, correlated color temperature (CCT), and color rendering index (CRI)—as measured by the industry standard for testing photometric performance, IES LM-79-2008.

“Since taking the Lighting Facts Pledge, B-K Lighting has published independent LM-79 test data for all of its BKSSL™ solid-state lighting products,” said Ron Naus, Executive Vice President of B-K Lighting. “We are committed to provide accurate documentation to assure the specification community and our customers that our solid state lighting products are represented accurately in the market.”

Lighting Facts labels give lighting professionals and designers direct access to information and facts needed to review performance claims.

Lighting Facts Label information for BKSSL™ approved products is available online at www.bklighting.com and www.bkssl.com.
