CFL Share Of Household Lamps Reaches New High

November 19, 2008

NEMA’s lamp indices for incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) declined for the second consecutive quarter, falling 14.0 and 7.5 percent, respectively, compared to the previous quarter. Moreover, the year-over-year comparison showed a greater weakening in sales of 23.4 and 17.9 percent for incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps, respectively. Despite the decline in sales, the compact fluorescent share of residential lamps reached a new high wherein slightly more than one in four household lamps (25.3 percent) is a CFL.
