Current And Future Business Conditions Indexes Gain Ground In November

November 30, 2014

NEMA’s Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America improved for the second month in a row in November, rising to 60.4 from 58.3 last month and from 57.1 in September. The survey’s measure of the mean degree of change in current North American conditions reversed a two-month skid, inching upward to +0.2 in November from +0.1 in October. Panelists are asked to report intensity of change on a scale ranging from –5 (deteriorated significantly) through 0 (unchanged) to +5 (improved significantly).

Meanwhile, the EBCI for future North American conditions rebounded in November, increasing more than 20 points to 77.1 following an anomalously low reading in October. The latest reading puts the index back within the range of results seen over most of the last fourteen months.
