Eaton Adds Sports Lighting To Its Connected LED Portfolio With Newly Acquired Ephesus Lighting
November 24, 2015
Power management company Eaton today outlined how recently acquired Ephesus Lighting, a Syracuse, N.Y.-based manufacturer of connected light-emitting diode (LED) lighting solutions for sporting venues and high lumen outdoor and industrial applications, will create new value for a wide range of customers. Ephesus Lighting is a market leader in high output controlled lighting solutions that harness advanced electronic design technology to bring lighting into the digital age.
“The Ephesus product portfolio is entirely complementary to Eaton’s connected lighting business and will add immediate category depth,” said Kraig Kasler, president, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “Ephesus shares Eaton's vision of the physical and functional convergence of light sources and controls with embedded intelligence and communication.”
Eaton will continue using the Ephesus Lighting product line for the marketing of connected LED sports lighting products as part of Eaton’s broader lighting portfolio. Ephesus will continue to operate out of Syracuse.
Ephesus products have enhanced the lighting efficiency and visual experience at sports and entertainment venues and events of all sizes throughout North America, including the 2015 Super Bowl at the University of Phoenix stadium. Featuring embedded fixture-level sensors and wireless platform controls, Ephesus lighting solutions commonly provide over 75 percent energy savings while allowing full light spectrum color tuning and intensity control so customers can adjust light output to their specific requirements.
“The deployment of LED-based high-density sensor networks significantly expands the value that lighting infrastructure delivers to customers,” said Kasler. “Our new combined strength also creates substantial opportunities for us to offer customers a wide array of other lighting and electrical power management solutions.”
Founded in 2010, Ephesus employs approximately 30 people. It has been recognized by the Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Progress Committee for unique and significant advancement in the art and science of lighting and its designers won the prestigious 2015 IES Illumination Award of Merit for two lighting design projects: “Controls and Color Lighting at the Utica Auditorium” and “LED Lighting Upgrade at the University of Phoenix Stadium.”
