Hockey Team Center Updates Concourse Lighting

Representatives from Scottrade Center, home of the St. Louis Blues hockey team, approached Lighting Associates, Inc's (LAI) Outside Sales Representative Dave Drake about 18 months ago for assistance with their lighting needs. Along with improving and updating their concourse lighting, the customer was interested in significantly reducing their energy usage. Drake approached TLI with Scottrade's request and a customizable, planet-friendly, Guardian fixture solution was the answer.
"TLI's competitive advantage came in their ability to provide a customized fixture in a short time-frame for an out-of-town owner who wanted to see the product and it's performance prior to purchasing," explains Drake. "We installed six different sample mock-ups of customized Guardian fixtures before we found the right fixture for the application."
An outstanding benefit of the Guardian series is the ability to provide the customer with their custom paint colors and be modified to join together to create an 8' fixture. The fixtures are painted in the Blues' team colors, blue and gold. The ability to paint the fixtures their team colors "really closed the deal," remarks Drake.
The Scottrade Center application contains 465 installed fixtures, 380 2-lamp T5HO Guardians in the main concourses and 85 2-lamp T8 Guardians in the event level. With the new installed TLI Guardians, Scottrade Center has reported benefits of increased average light levels (10 foot-candles (fc) to 24 foot-candles (fc)), an annual energy savings of almost 50% (242,350 KWH), and reduced maintenance. The Center has been able to "reduce their electric bill by approximately $25,000 annually," reports Drake. Additionally, their local utility provider has given them a rebate of $19,000.
This application is a terrific example of LAI's ability to answer their customer's needs by finding a fixture that improved light levels, while reducing energy usage and still be aesthetically appealing to the owners. TLI's highly customizable Guardian fixture was the perfect solution.
