Indy Brand Expands High-End Architectural Line With Three New LED Luminaires
October 11, 2009
Indy™, the premier brand of architectural recessed lighting and the first choice for lighting designers, architects and engineers, expands its high-end Designer Series line with three new products that offer enduring beauty and eco-friendly, energy saving features: the Indy Round LED Downlight, the Indy Square LED Downlight and the Indy Cylinder LED Downlight. All join Indy’s complete line of ultra-low-glare architectural lighting fixtures that are ideal for projects that require high performance, a quiet ceiling appearance and reliable operation.
The Indy brand Designer Series is known for the use of precision two-staged optics. The products in this line, including downlights, wall wash and adjustable fixtures have an upper reflector with a highly specular clear Alzak® finish, independent of a round or square lower trim. This upper stage maximizes lumen output and fixture efficiency. The second stage is provided by the satin-finish lower trim, to minimize glare and “rainbowing.” This combination produces quiet ceilings, low brightness and dynamic interior environments, all hallmarks of the Indy brand. Lighting professionals also appreciate Indy’s Tru-Lock™ bar hanger system with pre-installed screws, which provides easy pre-set horizontal positioning of fixtures and vertical adjustment from above or below the ceiling.
Introducing Indy LED Architectural-Grade Luminaires
The new Indy high-power LED downlights, cylinders and wall washers perform similar to 26W compact fluorescent or 75W incandescent fixtures while consuming just 18 watts of energy, making them ideal for a wide range of commercial applications but with energy consumption as little as 25 percent than that of comparable light sources. Utilizing remote phosphor technology, the high-output LED light engine provides the highest efficiency and color stability in the industry.
Rounds and Squares are offered in versatile 4-inch and 6-inch sizes; the 9-inch Cylinder is offered in three mounting styles; all with easy-to-replace light engines, for the ultimate combination of aesthetics and convenience.
The light engine is designed for modular replacement, eliminating the need to replace the entire fixture or heat sink if need be—simply remove three screws and use the quick-disconnect feature to remove and insert the new engine module.
“With the spotlight on energy conservation today, sustainability is everyone’s responsibility. Our engineers have met this challenge head-on by bringing the latest breakthroughs in LED technology to commercial lighting. Our new Indy Round, Square and Cylinder LED luminaires allow architects, designers, engineers and lighting professionals to create dramatic spaces without constraints, achieving the light levels they need while complying with the latest energy codes,” said Jeff Spencer, director of product management - commercial.
Indy Round LED Luminaire
The new Indy LED Recessed Architectural Luminaire harnesses the power of LEDs for eco-friendly lighting solutions. With industry-leading efficacy of 50 lumens per watt, it produces prodigious amounts of light while consuming minimal amounts of energy. It has no UV or IR emissions, no dangerous mercury, lead or PCBs, and is fully RoHS-compliant. The deep regression of the light source produces a very low glare system with as little as 40 degree cutoff to the lamp and lamp image.
The downlight can reduce lighting energy costs by as much as 75 percent. But with an operating life expectancy of 50,000 hours, LEDs last about 25 times longer than incandescent lamps, and about five times longer than CFLs, drastically cutting re-lamping and maintenance costs.
An integral, aluminum die-cast heat sink provides superior thermal management, assuring optimal service life. The LED light engine is designed to last 50,000 hours with 70 percent lumen maintenance and imperceptible color change.
Offering dramatically reduced energy consumption; long life; color-consistent, brilliant white light; solid-state, concealed LEDs, and an upgradable, solid-state light engine, the Indy LED Downlight is an effective recessed lighting solution for retail, hospitality, grocery, medical or business office applications.
The downlight‘s commercial-grade construction ensures greater structural integrity. A black baked enamel finish reduces stray light. Indy’s LED driver design accommodates input voltages of 120 or 277 volts AC. The “intelligent” state-of-the-art driver supplies proper, constant current to the LED light engine, providing consistent lumen output under a wide range of operating conditions.
Indy Square LED Luminaire
Joining the Indy Designer Series Squares line of downlights, wall washers and accent lighting is the new Indy LED Architectural Luminaire, another environmentally friendly and energy-efficient design for commercial interiors. Indy Squares provide maximum light source concealment, producing the sought-after quiet ceiling look without compromising performance. The contemporary Square trims open up a world of intriguing design possibilities, allowing architects and designers to express their style with ease.
Architects and designers who look for trims with tight seams, no light leaks, small flanges, heavy gauge construction and low brightness will find them all in the new Indy Square LED Architectural Luminaire. The deep regression of the light source produces a very low glare system with exceptional cutoff to the lamp and lamp image.
Indy Cylinder LED Luminaire
Joining the Indy architectural recessed lighting line is the Cylinder LED, offering the same superior brightness control at the fixture and smooth, even light distribution on floors and walls. Standard Cylinders are available in white or black with a full array of trim colors and finishes.
Indy LED Luminaires: the choice for architects, designers and engineers
“Our new Indy LED luminaires are designed with unsurpassed brightness control, making them ideal for a wide range of high-end applications, from office buildings to hospitals, schools, health care, retail properties and more,” Spencer added.
