LightFair International 2011 Breaks All Records
June 07, 2011
The 22nd consecutive edition of LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) broke all records for attendance and exhibit space in its May 17—19 run at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, the LFI 2011 venue. LFI, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, covered 200,000 net square square feet of exhibits in its largest-ever trade show floor. There were 474 exhibitors, including 59 first-time exhibiting companies. Attendance levels also exceeded all records, with 23,709 attendees from around the globe representing 75 nations.
The highly coveted LIGHTFAIR Innovation Awards received 239 submissions for the 14 designated categories for products making their debut on the 2011 trade show floor. Each product was judged by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals.
Revel™ by Acuity Brands was voted the Most Innovative Product of the Year—the program’s highest award, recognizing the most innovative new product. For a complete listing of all 2011 Innovation Award winners go to:

Successful features added to enhance the 2011 show included a new LFI Mobile App, which allowed attendees a paperless, convenient way to track program schedules and events.
In addition, the new Spotlight Lounge allowed attendees to experience presentations by esteemed experts, such as iconic
lighting designer Ingo Maurer, without leaving the excitement of the trade show floor.
LFI also featured keynote presentations from world renowned lighting designers Speirs and Major from the UK, and from Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects, Chicago.
The energy and excitement at LFI 2011 were evident from Opening Day. Crowds thronged from the LFI Innovation Awards to the Ribbon Cutting and onto the floor where they experienced state-of-the art industry technology and design innovation.
That night, attendees gathered for the first annual LightFEST at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute, the perfect setting for another LIGHTFAIR first. The event celebrated today’s leading lighting industry innovators, while paying homage to a man whose electrical innovations helped bring light to the world.
LIGHTFAIR International staff is already hard at work on the 2012 show set to be held in Las Vegas, May 7-11, 2012.
