Lighting Analysts, Inc. Introduces Climate-Based Daylight Modeling For AGi32 And ElumTools

April 14, 2016

Lighting Analysts, after seven years of research and development, is extremely pleased to introduce Climate-Based Daylight Modeling Functionality for our software programs AGi32 and ElumTools (our Autodesk Revit add-in).

Based on patented and patent-pending algorithms, annual daylight simulations can be performed on real building geometry with thousands of windows, skylights or openings using a five-phase daylight transfer with direct sunlight. The process utilizes site-specific TMY3 weather data with 4,380 hourly solutions to compute illuminance on as many target grids and calculation points as required. The result is accurate daylight illuminance for every daylight hour of every day, for an entire year.

Either AGi32 or ElumTools can serve as the modeling tool and the platform for the setup of the simulation. Upon selecting the “Run” command, AGi32 or ElumTools will spawn a separate Lighting Analysts application, which will process the simulation independently. Processing speed is extremely fast, with most simulations running in a matter of minutes, as compared to hours or days for the only competitive solution.

From the completed simulation, a variety of daylight metrics such as Daylight Autonomy (several flavors), Annual Sunlight Exposure, Useful Daylight Illuminance and others can be produced. Rendered images, animations and complete graphical and textual reporting are provided.
