Lighting Supply Launches Bright Earth Campaign
January 19, 2009
Lighting Supply Company has kicked off the Bright Earth campaign, with a goal of donating 70,000 energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs to religious organizations nationwide.
The Michigan-based company is generously offering its overstock of GE 22-watt CFL light bulbs, which replace standard 75-watt incandescents and last 10 times longer. They also cost dramatically less to operate - $22 per 10,000 hours versus $75 for 10,000 hours - or $53 in savings over the life of the bulb.
Globally speaking, the 70,000 CFLs will save $3.7 million in energy costs and reduce the amount of coal burned by nearly 18,000 tons and the amount of carbon dioxide released in the atmosphere by 38,213 tons.
The bulbs, which retail for $1.99, are suitable for commercial and residential use.
Organizations are limited to 120 bulbs (a single case), which can be shipped via UPS ground service within the continental United States at a cost of $36, to be paid with a Visa or Mastercard.
Recipients must prove tax-exempt status. Go to http://www.lightingsupply.com/cfldonation for more information and to order light bulbs.
