September 01, 2010

As proud citizens of our country, we will remember the lives tragically impacted on September 11, 2001. A memorial service will be held at the manufacturing facility located at 40429 Brickyard Drive, Madera, California on Friday, September 10th at 9:00 a.m.

We extend an open invitation to the general public to join us to give tribute to those who fell and the brave first responders on that grievous day. Our memorial presentation will be conducted in our break room for company employees, neighboring tenants, friends and family.

This year’s honored guest is Lt. Col. Douglas S. Weskamp, Vice Commander of the 144th Fighter Wing at the Fresno Air National Guard Base (ANGB). Colonel Weskamp will address the Valley’s role in protecting the United States.

Colonel Weskamp graduated from Atwater High School in 1981. He enlisted as an Aero Ground Equipment (AGE) Mechanic in the 144FW in 1982. After serving three years as an AGE mechanic, he was selected as a Weapons Systems Officer for the F4D Phantom. He received his commission from the Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson ANGB. Colonel Weskamp graduated from California State University, Fresno and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988. After graduating CSUF he was selected to attend Under Graduate Pilot Training in Del Rio, Texas. He is a Command Pilot Instructor/Evaluator pilot with 21 years of F-16 experience.

“Let us never forget the sacrifice made to protect and save the innocent victims during that tragic event. We must always be aware and grateful to the brave men and women who dedicate their lives and performed courageous acts of heroism. We should always be mindful of our good fortune to live in the greatest country in all of history; where liberty and justice is the core of our beliefs. We must never take for granted the men and women in uniform – as they stand ready to risk their lives to protect the rest of us,” said Douglas W. Hagen, President and CEO of B-K Lighting + TEKA Illumination.

Join us as we remember the fallen, the survivors and brave men and women in uniform.
