Morley Retires On The Heels of LightFair's Most Successful Las Vegas Show

August 07, 2008

As LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI) prepares for its 20th Anniversary in 2009, it celebrates the achievements of Libby Morley, and her contributions to the establishment and management of the Trade Show and Conference during her tenure with the company. Morley retires on the heels of LFI’s most successful Las Vegas show in its history.

More than 20 years ago, Morley helped initiate and spearhead an idea and business plan that would indelibly impact the lighting industry. She, along with industry leaders from the IALD and the IESNA, built a foundation for what has become North America’s largest commercial and architectural lighting Trade Show and Conference—LIGHTFAIR International. As the vice president of LFI, Morley managed the day-to-day sales operations, as well as the overarching direction of the Trade Show and Conference.

“Libby has nurtured and continued to develop LFI since its very inception.  It is under her leadership that it has evolved into a world-renowned show in the lighting industry” says JoAnn Miller Marshall, senior vice president of AMC tradeshows. “Libby put LFI on the map and transitioned the show into the design-led event it is today.  She will be forever regarded in the lighting industry for the lasting impact she has had on LFI, our partners and our team.”

Morley joined LFI’s managing company, AMC, Inc., in the gift trade shows department, primarily focusing on decorative soft goods. She helped expand and strengthen this category. After her success with in soft goods, Morley’s responsibilities shifted to the development and growth of LFI.

“I had the privilege of working with Libby for 20 plus years. In her role as vice president, she was innovative, dedicated, and just plain fun to work with,” says William Hanley, executive vice president, IESNA. “All of us involved in LIGHTFAIR will miss her greatly.”

“Since the establishment of LIGHTFAIR, I have enjoyed working with the industry’s leaders and am fortunate that I have been able to work with a strong team and experience the growth of the show from the inside,” says Libby Morley. “LIGHTFAIR continues to strengthen and draw attendees and exhibitors from around the world, and I feel privileged to have been part of this distinguished trade show and conference since its beginning. I will miss interacting with my peers and industry professionals on a daily basis, but hope to continue supporting the team and industry as a whole as LIGHTFAIR grows.”

“Libby’s boundless energy and enthusiasm have been clear drivers in the success of LIGHTFAIR. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with her, and she will be sorely missed,” adds Marsha Turner, executive vice president, IALD.

Although Morley will no longer serve as the vice president of LFI overseeing the daily operations, she will continue to be an advisor and partner—and will always be a member of the LFI team. She is scheduled to be in New York to help LFI celebrate its 20th Anniversary, May 3-7, 2009.
