NEMA Publishes ANSI C78.81-2014
February 12, 2015
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published ANSI C78.81-2014 American National Standard for Electric Lamps—Double-Capped Fluorescent Lamps—Dimensional and Electrical Characteristics. In this updated version, eight datasheet revisions, four new datasheets, and additional information for high-frequency electronic ballast design are included.
ANSI C78.81 was developed by ANSI Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) C78. The standard establishes the physical and electrical characteristics of fluorescent lamps intended for application on conventional line frequency circuits and electronic high-frequency circuits. It should be noted that only double-based lamps of the regular linear shape are included.
ANSI C78.81 may be downloaded or purchased in hard copy for $500 on the NEMA website.
NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Rosslyn, Virginia. Nearly 400 members strong, its companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems. Total U.S. shipments for electroindustry products exceed $100 billion annually.
