Next Generation Luminaires Design Competition Announces 2012 Indoor Winners
May 10, 2012
Winners in the Indoor category of the fourth annual Next Generation LuminairesTM Solid-State Lighting Design Competition were announced today at LIGHTFAIR® International in Las Vegas. Sponsored by DOE, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers, NGL was launched in 2008 to promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for general illumination in commercial lighting applications.
Out of 114 entries from 43 companies, 53 were recognized as winners this year, meaning they were considered worthy of specification. A panel of eight judges, most of them lighting designers or specifiers, evaluated the entries based on lighting quality, appearance, serviceability, efficacy, value, dimming, and rated lifetime.
Three of this year's winners were designated as "best in class." They came from three different manufacturers and covered three different areas of lighting:
-Intense Lighting for its MBW2 LED Track accent lighting fixture
-Albeo Technologies Inc. for its H-Series LED high-bay luminaire
-Lithonia Lighting for its ST Series LED utility/general purpose luminaire
