Original Founders Purchase Teron Lighting

October 29, 2018

Teron Lighting (TLI), a manufacturer of commercial grade energy-efficient lighting for institutional users headquartered in the southwestern Ohio City of Fairfield, is now back to its original ownership saving over 60 area jobs. The sale, effective October 27, 2018, for an undisclosed price, makes TLI now owned by TLI, LLC, an entity held by the original founders and owners, David and Michael Bellos.

Previously acquired by Kichler Lighting in 2011, TLI has been operating as a stand-alone entity with David and Michael Bellos managing operations. While TLI serves the commercial sector offering products that include features such as being vandal resistant, motion-sensing and wet location, Kichler’s core business focuses on residential. This past March, 2018, Kichler was purchased by Masco Corporation, a manufacturer of products for the home improvement and new home construction markets operating more than 20 companies world-wide and has been publicly-traded on the NYSE (MAS) since 1969.

TLI did not fit into Masco’s business model. “Once Kichler was acquired last March and learned that Masco did not want to keep TLI operating, we negotiated to take the company private again. We essentially saved the company from being shutdown to protect the future of the business, the City of Fairfield and, more importantly, to shield our 60 employees and their families from the devastation of unemployment that was to come by being under the Masco corporate umbrella,” explained Michael Bellos, President of TLI.

This business deal is a good fit for both Kichler and TLI who are continuing to strengthen their alliance with each other to serve the commercial sector. “Our agents are our customers and routinely reap the rewards of an uncomplicated business relationship with us. With Teron being a strong nationally recognized brand, we are thankful to continue to provide innovative product solutions for the multitude of our loyal customers throughout the US, as well as in Canada. Not having TLI would create a large void in choices throughout the distribution channels,” remarked David Bellos, CEO. Industries that continuously utilize TLI products include assisted living/healthcare, commercial, educational, government, hospitality and multi-family in the US and Canada.

TLI operates out of a 52,500 square foot facility in Fairfield, Ohio. Founded over 30 years ago, TLI has provided the market with a unique range of products that are consistently sought after to be the greater value fixture solution with the better return on investment than non-independently-owned companies. Product categories include: bedlight, ceiling, fabric, motion sensing, outdoor decorative, outdoor utility, sconce and vanity. Visit teronlighting.com for more information.
