President Of Pegasus Lighting Recognized As Triangle Top 50 Entreprenuer

In an award ceremony on February 26, Business Leader Media honored Dr. Thomas E. Farin, founder and president of Pegasus Associates Lighting, as a 2010 Triangle Top 50 Entrepreneur. This award recognizes leaders who have made a significant impact in the Raleigh – Durham, NC business community.
Dr. Farin’s accomplishments were highlighted through his involvement in professional organizations, business innovations, philanthropic activity, and overall company growth. Under his leadership, Pegasus Lighting has grown substantially since its launch on the Internet in 1999 with less than $1,000. The company’s sales today are close to $3 million. Last year, during the economic recession, Dr. Farin led Pegasus Lighting to increase profitability by streamlining operations and cutting costs despite an 8% reduction in sales.
Dr. Farin has extensive training and experience in lighting, physics, mathematics and education, acquired at the undergraduate level, in graduate school, and in the field. He has been an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (www.IESNA.org) since 1993, and is a Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional with the Association of Energy Engineers (www.AEECenter.org).
Dr. Farin continues to lead the business to be on the forefront of technology. Currently, Pegasus Lighting is redesigning its website and creating a free lighting application for the Apple iPhone, the Motorola Droid, and the Blackberry Smartphone.
