Retailer Energy Alliance From The U.S Department of Energy

June 24, 2008

The U.S. Department of Energy invites retailers to join the new Retailer Energy Alliance (REA), designed with both bottom-line and energy savings in mind. On this Web site, you will find information about the REA, including REA energy-efficient technology initiatives, and related links.

With each passing year, retailers grow increasingly concerned about energy reliability and price volatility, as well as the potential impact of greenhouse gas reduction policies on their profitability. As a result, many businesses are looking for innovative, proven pathways to dramatically reduce their energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions, and overall operating risk.

To help retailers address these issues, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has created the REA—one of several alliances organized under the Commercial Building Energy Alliances, which aim to improve the energy performance of commercial buildings.
