Sea Gull Lighting Wins Lighting for Tomorrow Competition, Outdoor Fixtures

September 15, 2008

Sea Gull Lighting Products, a manufacturer of decorative and functional lighting products, was awarded "winner" of the Outdoor Lighting Fixture category of the Lighting for Tomorrow design competition.

Sea Gull Lighting's submission, the Eternity Collection, represents the company's longstanding commitment to bringing to market great design in energy efficient lighting fixtures. The competition's winners were announced during the breakfast award ceremony of the American Lighting Association's Conference in Washington, D.C.

The Lighting for Tomorrow design competition seeks out and rewards products for their use of innovative technologies as well as the promotion of attractive energy-efficient residential light fixtures. Lighting For Tomorrow is an international lighting fixture design competition, organized by the American Lighting Association (ALA), the U.S. Department of Energy (represented by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory) and the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE).

"Our corporate commitment to the continued development of energy efficient products on behalf of the environment is so ingrained that it is a part of our corporate culture," says Paul Vrabel, Director of Energy Efficient Products. "We believe that consumers only need to see collections like this year's Lighting for Tomorrow winner, Eternity, or last year's Grand Prize winning collection, Acadia, to appreciate just how beautiful energy efficient lighting is."

Sea Gull Lighting, the recipient of numerous honors over the years for its commitment to reducing harmful greenhouse gases, marketing a broad line of decorative energy efficient lighting, was a Charter Partner of the ENERGY STAR program back in 1992. According to Ace Rosenstein, vice president of marketing and corporate development, "We are proud of every award and honor - from the unprecedented accolades from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on behalf of the ENERGY STAR program, to our multi-year honors and awards in the Lighting For Tomorrow Design Competition. However, our commitment is deeper and more longstanding."

Rosenstein continues, "We are not only going to market with the broadest line of decorative energy efficient lighting products, but as a member of a global community, we have taken steps in doing our part to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions. In 2006, Sea Gull Lighting converted the roof of its headquarters and distribution center into solar power stations."
