Student Poster Winners Announced At DOE SSL Workshop

February 16, 2018

DOE announced the winners of the 2018 Student Poster Competition at the 15th annual DOE SSL R&D Workshop, held January 29-31 in Nashville, Tennessee. The heart of these workshops is a poster session, where project investigators from all DOE-funded R&D projects share updates on their work.

Now in its third year, the student poster competition attracted over a dozen submissions from graduate students across the country. Submissions were judged based on quality of research, novelty, and innovation; impact on the field of SSL; and presentation quality and clarity.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2018 student competition:

-Juan (Rachel) He, University of Central Florida: “Stable, Cost-Effective Perovskite-Polymer Composites as Tunable Downconverters for Tailored Lighting”

-Taehwan Kim, The Pennsylvania State University: “Kirigami-based Three-dimensional OLED Concepts for Architectural Lighting”

-Shima Nezhadbadeh, University of New Mexico: “CMOS-compatible Plenoptic Detector for LED Lighting Applications”

-Kwing Tong, University of California, Los Angeles: “Efficient Light Extraction of OLEDs on a Fully Solution-processed Flexible Substrate”
