Sustainability, Lighting For the Developing World Headline LFI 2008 Keynote Program

Dave Irvine-Halliday, PhD, founder of the Light Up The World Foundation/Canada, and David Gottfried, CEO of WorldBuild and founder of the US and the World Green Building Councils, will headline the LIGHTFAIR International 2008 Institutes Keynote Luncheons this May in Las Vegas.

"Solid State Lighting: A Proven Means to Help End Poverty in the Developing World."
Nearly two billion people in rural areas of developing countries have an urgent need for safe, affordable electric home lighting. Through Irvine-Halliday’s Light Up the World Foundation (LUTW), feasible and appropriate Solid State Lighting solutions continue to be achieved.
A self-proclaimed citizen of the world, Irvine-Halliday spent two decades in Fiber Optic Sensors & Communication plus Biophotonics before discovering his life’s work. In 1997, he founded LUTW. As a result of bringing lighting to more than 20,000 homes, schools, etc. in 42 countries, Irvine-Halliday is the recipient of numerous awards including the Reader’s Digest Hero, Time Canada Hero and APEGGA.
