U.S. Energy Sciences, Inc., (USES) a fully-integrated manufacturer of energy efficient lighting products including LED, fluorescent and induction fixtures, has announced the completion of a 10,000 square foot expansion of its Vidalia, Georgia facility. The expansion accommodates a new paint line enabling USES to post-paint its all-aluminum components, delivering a more durable, attractive finish.

According to operations manager Bobby Hicks, “Adding the paint line allows us to ensure the finish quality and durability of the lighting products we sell. When pre-painted aluminum is cut and shaped the process can leave imperfections in the finish and sharp edges. Our post-painted, powder-coated process creates a flawless finish that feels almost like plastic. Edges are smooth which makes for safer assembly and installation.”

Post-painting is a six-stage process, that begins with a multi-step wash and pre-treatment procedure. After drying, each piece goes to the paint booth, is powder coated and then baked at 400 degrees. The process is continually monitored and tested for adhesion and other quality measures.
