Watt Stopper/Legrand Presents an Accredited Education Program

December 10, 2007

In line with the latest directive on green buildings, Watt Stopper/Legrand and the Legrand Company have joined hands with the Middle East Centre for Sustainable Development (MECSD) to present a unique and comprehensive education program in Dubai on green buildings and lighting controls on December 10th.

The first program of its kind in Dubai, the education series supports Dubai's directive to implement green and sustainable building strategies to ensure a healthy and environment-friendly city.

The program is being led by Watt Stopper/Legrand's Vice President of Market Development Pete Horton. 'We're excited about sharing our knowledge of green standards with the region to help build a sustainable Dubai' comments Pete. 'We look forward to working with Dubai and other countries to expand the presence of sustainability within the Middle East.'

Watt Stopper/Legrand's three- day education program, beginning on December 10th, 2007, allows specifying engineers and electrical installers to learn about green buildings and lighting controls, LEED certification, and ASHRAE energy codes. The program offers attendees accreditation with 1.5 AIA/CES LUs and 1.5 LEUs.

Following the accredited portion, Watt Stopper will lead classes to cover green building lighting control design and installation. Energy saving lighting control products will be shown and demonstrated giving attendees hands-on experience. Watt Stopper/Legrand will also brief attendees on the company's current projects like the Dubai Airport Terminal 3 and Dubai Uptown Motor City which are using Watt Stopper lighting controls to save energy.

These courses will help lighting professionals learn practical methods for implementing lighting controls. They will then be able to apply their knowledge to their projects and help their country meet the green directive.

Legrand, Watt Stopper's parent company is sponsoring the event which is being kicked off with a gala dinner at the Raffles Hotel for more than 200 dignitaries. The education courses are hosted by the MECSD at the Pacific Controls Headquarters Green Building Auditorium. More than 400 specifiers and installers are expected to attend.
