The longest burning light bulb in history "The Centennial Bulb" located at fire station number 6 in Livermoore California was replaced today with an energy efficent LED lightbulb.
Fire Chief Bob said "the bulb has used enough energy burning for the last 108 years to power the whole fire station for years." " We just decided it was to much of an energy hog to allow the bulb to burn for another 108 years, enough is enough".
The bulb featured on many TV shows such as Myth Busters, Ripley's believe it or not, and numerious books and articles was removed and replaced with a very energy efficent light emitting diode. "We are happy with the replacement" said fire fighter O'Shadley "The light is so much brighter I can now see all the dust I've been missing sweeping the floor".
The Centennial Bulb committee will change it's name to the "Energy Saving Bulb Committee" and still sponser a live web-cam of the new bulb.
